A charity shop find!

A friend of mine found some very long curtains in charity shop and asked me if I could adjust them to fit the windows in her dining room. Of course I was very intrigued to see them. The curtain fabric was in very good condition and surprisingly not faded at all. They were pencil pleat and had hung behind a pelmet. We decided that the heading would be changed to triple pinch pleat and the drop altered.

Whilst making the alterations, I discovered that the curtains were made with a vintage Sanderson fabric called 'Devonshire Place' from over 30 years ago! They were in such good condition! Well done, Sanderson!

Not only that but the fabric was made in the UK!

I altered the drop (length) of the curtains and inserted buckram to make a triple pinch pleat heading. After adding the hooks all that was left to do was to hang them in place.

My friend was delighted with her 'new' curtains! And I was delighted that we could rescue curtains from potentially ending up in a skip or landfill.
